What a good one does

Updated

A good Google Business Profile post shows a real job, season or update in a few plain sentences, with a photo of your own work. Use Update, Offer or Event posts as Google defines them, add a Call now button instead of typing a phone number, and post weekly. Google archives posts older than six months unless they have a date range.

Rules that apply.In plain words.

This is a summary, not legal advice. Each row links to the official source.

Mistakes to avoid. We see these often.

  • Typing a phone number or email in the post. Google may remove posts with contact details it can't verify; add a Call now button instead.
  • Posting offers or prices for prescription or regulated treatments.
  • Using stock photos instead of your own work.
  • Posting the same text every week.

Questions people ask.Short answers.

How often should I post?

Weekly is a good rhythm for a local business. Each post should be about something real: a job, a season, a person or a change.

Can I put my phone number in a post?

Google says posts with phone numbers it can't verify as the business's may be rejected. Use the Call now button instead.

Do posts expire?

Google archives posts older than six months unless a date range is set. Offers and events end on their dates.
