AI visibility is how often AI assistants name your business when people ask questions about your trade and area.
It is measured by asking a fixed set of real customer questions on several AI engines and counting how often you appear.
Answers aren't fixed. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode may use different models, so the responses and links they show vary, and that AI Overviews often don't appear at all. OpenAI says the same question may get different answers in ChatGPT.
Location matters too. OpenAI says ChatGPT may use an approximate location based on your IP address to give local results, so the questions should be asked from a fixed location.
Because answers vary between runs, the monthly trend matters more than any single answer.
Example: a roofing company named in 30 of 125 answers in its first month and in 41 the next has more AI visibility, even if one run on one day shows fewer.
