Yelp is a review directory that supplies its reviews, ratings, photos and business details to ChatGPT, and Yelp says Apple Maps, Microsoft Bing and Alexa+ also show Yelp-powered recommendations. Listing is free. Yelp's own rule is unusual: don't ask customers for reviews, because prompted reviews may not be recommended. Claim the page, keep it exact, and let reviews come on their own.

Can I ask customers for Yelp reviews?

No. Yelp asks businesses not to ask anyone for reviews, and says prompted reviews may not be recommended by its software. Ask for Google reviews instead.

Why does my Yelp page say unclaimed?

Yelp may mark a page unclaimed if the owner hasn't logged in to Yelp for Business in the last 90 days.

Does Perplexity use Yelp?

The Verge reported a Perplexity and Yelp integration in 2024. Perplexity isn't in Yelp's 2026 list of partners, so we treat it as historical.
