An AI visibility score is the number of times AI engines name your business across a fixed set of real customer questions, asked the same way every month.
The questions stay the same so the score can be compared month to month. Each answer either names your business or it doesn't.
A single answer can change between runs, so one score is a snapshot. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode can show different answers and links, and its AI Mode help suggests asking several versions of a question, which is why the score uses many questions on several engines.
Ask from a fixed location. OpenAI says ChatGPT may use an approximate location based on your IP address for local results.
The trend over several months is what tells you whether the work is helping.
For example, a business named in 6 of 20 tracked answers scores 6 out of 20. If it's named in 9 of 20 the next month, more answers now include it.
