Hybrid service-area business.In plain English.

Definition

Updated

A hybrid service-area business serves customers at its location and also travels to them, like an auto repair shop with a garage that also offers roadside service.

Google's guidelines give auto repair shops that have a garage and also offer roadside service as the example. A hybrid business shows its address and can also set service areas.

The address has to work as a real storefront: permanent signage, staff on site during the hours you list, and customers received there. A virtual office or co-working desk doesn't count unless it meets the same bar.

You can set up to 20 service areas, by city, postal code or other area. Google says the overall area shouldn't reach more than about 2 hours' drive from where the business is based.

Set your hours to the times staff can actually receive customers. Hide the address only if customers never visit it; then you're a service-area business, not a hybrid.

Example: a tire shop with a service bay that also sends a van to flat tires on the highway lists its shop address and opening hours, plus the towns the van covers.
