# llms.txt generator

> The llms.txt generator writes an llms.txt file for a local business: a plain Markdown summary with your name, a one-line description and links to your key pages, in the format the llms.txt proposal describes. No major AI engine says it reads llms.txt yet, and Google says no AI text files are needed, so treat it as a cheap extra, not a ranking fix.

## What it does

- Name, summary and link sections in the llms.txt format
- Add as many sections and links as you need
- Flags links that don't start with https://
- Copy-ready file; nothing is sent or stored

## How it works

1. The file starts with your business name as an H1, the only required part.
2. A one-line summary follows as a quoted block, then any extra detail.
3. Each H2 section lists links as [name](url), with an optional note after a colon.
4. Save it as llms.txt at the root of your site, next to robots.txt.

## FAQs

### Do AI engines read llms.txt?

None of the major makers says so. Google says you don't need new machine-readable files or AI text files to appear in its AI features.

### Where does the file go?

The proposal allows the root or any path. The root, next to robots.txt, is where tools look first.

### Should I add Markdown versions of my pages?

The proposal suggests a clean Markdown copy of each page at the same address with .md added. It's optional and costs little.
